Cinco de Mayo Celebration on May 3 This Year
Celebrate the Southwest this Friday at the
Hospitality Committee's annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at the
Ramada. It's a potluck with a southwestern flair (but anything
you would like to bring will be consumed with gusto).
Festivities will start at 4:30 with dinner at
5:00. No doubt Tom Cooke will favor us with his famous Cinco de
Mayo joke -- it's an EE tradition. Complimentary beverages
including margaritas will be provided. Hospitality will be taking the
summer off, so this will be the last event until October. |
Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie at 7:15 PM at the Ramada is Amadeus.
The story, set in Vienna, Austria, during the latter half of the
18th century, is a fictionalized biography of Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for
sponsoring this event. |
Snakes
Look before you step as you walk this time of year as snakes
have been reported in the neighborhood. Be especially vigilant
when you garden. Shake any plant that covers the ground with a
long-handled tool before sticking your hand in. The fire
department will remove snakes from your home or yard. Call 520-629-9200 for
assistance. |
Leaving for the Summer?
Remember to call your Neighborhood Watch block captain to
update your emergency contact information in case something
happens to your house while you are away. This is especially
important if you have an irrigation system. If someone notices a
leak, they can call whoever has a key to your house. Don't know
who your block captain is? Call Karen White,
head of Neighborhood Watch, at 520-648-3993.
For additional peace of mind, you can also sign up with the Sheriff's
Auxiliary Volunteers (SAV) for weekly house checks. A
volunteer will walk around the perimeter of your house to make
sure nothing is amiss. Contact them at 520-351-6744. |
Food Bank
As you clean out your pantry in preparation for leaving for
the summer or when you attend a Ramada event, please consider
donating to the Green Valley Food Bank. For your convenience, we
have a container at the Ramada where you can drop off
non-perishable items. EE has always been generous in
contributing to those in need. Thanks to Jane and Eric
Ellingson for delivering these items to the food bank. |
Traffic Report
Expect daily lane closures on I-19 starting today and
lasting about 3 weeks. Crews will install the final layer
of pavement between Duval Mine Road and the Canoa Ranch
Rest Area. I-19 will be reduced to a single lane in the direction crews
are working. In addition, individual ramps will close for a
short time as paving operations pass by.
|
Happy Hour
Happy Hour at the Ramada will start at 4:00 PM on
the following Fridays: May 17, May 31, June 7
and June 21. Bring your own beverage, glasses, utensils, and an
appetizer to share. |
Monday Morning Memo Submission Deadline
Have an EE organization item that needs to appear in the next
MMM? Please submit your information by Friday evening.
You don't need to write the article, just give us the facts. If
an urgent, last-minute situation arises after the deadline,
please call to let us know you're sending information. |
